In Mars 1001, an international crew of astronauts is about to embark on the first interplanetary journey in history, the first manned mission to the surface of Mars. Reporter Miles O’Brien is reporting live from his Space Headquarters TV Studio in New York while events unfold for the crew on their 1001-day long mission. Witness firsthand their brave attempts to put human footprints on Mars and return safely to Earth. This journey is made possible by the biggest engineering feat ever and filled with scientific experiments. The explorers will extend our knowledge of Mars and learn whether or not mankind has a future among the stars. Many challenges will have to be met in order for the crew to succeed and unlock the secrets of the new World!

Science in 3D: Hurricane Maria @ Museum of Coastal Carolina

Our Science in 3D exhibit uses a virtual reality mobile classroom to bring this exciting experience to you! Dive into the eye of Hurricane Maria, track windspeed and rainfall, and learn what to do when there is a hurricane.

Education docents will be available to assist and answer any questions you may have. Strap on a pair of virtual reality headsets and become immersed in this unique environment.

This is an North Carolina Science Festival event. The Festival celebrates the economic, educational, and cultural impacts of science in North Carolina through a series of community-based events each April (hosted by schools, colleges, libraries, museums, parks, businesses, and other local organizations). Sea Tales: Sea Turtles @ Museum of Coastal Carolina

Learn about the life cycle and species of sea turtles, how volunteers track sea turtle nests, and what we can do to protect sea turtles. Sea turtles are frequent visitors to the North Carolina coast, with several individuals nesting on beaches from the Outer Banks to our own Ocean Isle Beach.
