Experience being on the deck of the voyaging canoe Hōkūleʻa as you explore traditional Polynesian navigation. Learn how to read the stars and interpret the winds and waves to navigate without modern instruments. This movie tells the story of the Polynesian Voyaging Society and the recovery of the nearly lost art and science of traditional, non-instrument navigation in Hawaii. The movie is followed by a live star show.

Ocean Animal Rescue @ Museum of Coastal Carolina

This program concerns North Carolina ocean animal rescue efforts including the Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter and the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center.  The program will also include a discussion of the largest marine mammal hospital in the world in California that has rescued over 25,000 sea lions and seals. All of these rescue efforts have a similar purpose: rescue, rehabilitation, and release. The program will detail why an animal needs to be rescued, how it is rescued, and what determines if and when the animal is released. The program will have a brief discussion of how the health of ocean animals is connected to the health of the ocean. The program will include an art activity for children.

Grand Opening of New Art Exhibit by Kristin Rahn @ Museum of Coastal Carolina

Local photographer Kristin Rahn calls her new exhibit at the Museum of Coastal Carolina Wild Brunswick. Kristin is a member of the North America Nature Photography Association and a featured artist at the Town of Ocean Isle Bach town hall. She grew up near Augusta, GA and has been a resident of Ocean Isle Beach since 2014.
