Explore how to keep seven area rivers that comprise the Winyah River system fishable, swimmable, and drinkable now and for future generations. Sandbar Lecture attendees will also learn
about nonprofit Winyah Rivers Alliance’s ongoing efforts to protect, preserve, monitor and revitalize the health of the lands and waters of the greater Winyah Bay watershed.
Having grown up on the Little Pee Dee River, Sandbar Lecture presenter Debra Buffkin is passionately committed to protecting Winyah River Systems, she’s the Executive Director of Winyah Rivers Alliance, and she has a bachelor’s degree from Coastal Carolina University in Interdisciplinary Studies – Environmental Policy and Legal Studies with a minor in Environmental Studies.
The Sandbar Lecture Series brings local experts to speak about topics ranging from our coastal environment to Outer Banks history. Sandbar lectures are free with Museum admission, $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $8 for children. The Museum will open at 5:00 pm prior to the lecture.
