Join the Museum of Coastal Carolina for a presentation on natural and man-made sea structures. What are those huge lines of boulders we sometimes see on the beach? We’ll explore the difference between different types of hardened structures including groins, jetties, and seawalls, why we build them, and any potential environmental impacts that come from building these structures. The Groins, Jetties, and Seawalls presentation is part of the Museum of Coastal Carolina’s Beach Features program, where you can learn about the structures you see on the beaches and why they exist.
Our Education Coordinator, Jamie Justice will present this fun, interactive program. Jamie received her Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Bowling Green State University and her Master of Science in Environmental Science with concentrations in Marine and Coastal Education and Coastal Management from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.
