Sunset Beach Concert: Chip And The Old Blocks

The Sunset Sound Waves Concert Series is back! Presented by the Town of Sunset Beach, the concerts will be happening every Wednesday this summer! Bring your lawn chairs, relax and enjoy the show! We hope to see you there!

Weekly concerts scheduled on Wednesdays beginning on June 16th and continuing until August 18th. The Concerts will be held at 1791 Queen Anne Street, Village Park COA Gazebo from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Staff has secured a wide array of talented musicians to entertain you, guests, vacationers, and visitors.

There will be Food vendors there as well!

This week’s concert features:

Chip and the old blocks

Chip moved to Calabash North Carolina in May of 2016. He has been playing the guitar since he was nine years old. He traveled 15 years on the road playing clubs and played with three bands who stayed together for 8, 10 and 14 years. By chance encounter he met singer Larry Hershoff playing golf which led to a get together with guitarist Jim Geary. The chemistry was great and the band was started.

Now with drummer Doug Rauch, bassist Steve Sowder and Rich Carcich on congas, they are a well polished band playing locally. Crowds are loving their choice of classic rock songs from the 60’s to 90’s and are giving great reviews.

With old classics that never die and living in communities that loves the music of the past, they pride themselves playing songs many bands would not attempt to perform like Jackson Brown’s “Running On Empty” Moody Blues “Story in Your Eyes”, Doors ” LA Woman” Roy Orbison, “Pretty Woman”. Each band member has a song list they love from the past and they incorporate all of these songs into their set list.

With the addition of Karen Pittman Jones to the lineup a whole new realm of songs has opened up: Fleetwood Mac, Bonnie Raitt and others!

They love to rock and make people dance, sprinkled with a few classic slow songs that really bring back the memories. The great bands of the past influence all their music while adding original styles and arrangements to the classics. Music by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers, Doors, Tom Petty, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Moody Blues, Everly and Righteous Brothers, plus other great artist.
