Join us December 7th from 12 pm to 5 pm for the 2nd Annual Christmas on The River and Brunswick Stew-Off. And then kick off the holiday season with Shallotte Lights Up at Rourk Gardens at 6 pm.
If you’ve never had Brunswick Stew you don’t know what you’re missing. Although recipes vary greatly (hence the need for a Stew-Off) Brunswick Stew is usually a tomato-based stew containing various types of lima beans/butter beans, corn, okra, and other vegetables, and typically one or more types of meat.
Christmas on the River will feature Arts & Crafts Vendors, the Brunswick Stew Cook-Off, a Special Appearance by Santa Claus, Live Music and Christmas Trees for sale. The event will be held at Shallotte Riverside Park, located behind the Brunswick County Chamber office at 4948 Main Street in Shallotte. Admission for Christmas on The River and Shallotte Lights Up are free, the Stew-Off is $5 per person/vote.
